My wife and I returned from Paris with 9 unused Paris Metro/RER/bus tickets which are offered here. I found out it is very useful to arrive in Paris with these tickets. We arrived via Eurostar and had to wait in a long line to purchase these tickets at the Gare du Nord train station, which we used to go directly to our hotel. Machines at the train stations do not usually take U.S. credit cards because they lack an embedded chip that is used in Europe. Each ticket costs 1.80 Euros, about $2.50 each, if you buy them individually. These particular tickets may be used within the city of Paris on buses, the Metro and the RER, and you can transfer between Metro lines or between the Metro and the RER on the same ticket. If you buy a ticket on a bus, you can’t use it on the Metro or RER.
